East Bayside Family Session

Sarah Beth and her family are one of the first families that I ever worked with and I so look forward to our time together each fall. We usually go with a more natural coastal setting, but Elizabeth decided on heading to the East Bayside neighborhood in downtown Portland for their photos this year. Sarah Beth and Silas led the way as we made our way to all the different murals. They are naturals in front of the camera and I loved their enthusiasm for coming up with different poses and locations. I always like to include kids in deciding on where we do some of the photos during each session. It keeps them engaged and to feel empowered rather than the adults deciding everything for the shoot. By the end of a session, most kids’ creative juices are really flowing and while things may get a little silly for a few shots, we’re all laughing and having a great time by the end.
